We are pleased to report that the 35 MPH Speed Zone on Hwy 45 in Pelican Lake is now open for ATV/UTV use. This will allow for the majority of residents residing along the highway to access County Rd B to the south, as well as allow for ATV/UTV access to PB&J's on Hwy 45.
Unfortunately there is no legal route north of the 55 MPH sign on Highway 45 and it is requested you do not go past the ATV Route Ends sign as this would be a violation of the law. A Conservation Warden, state patrol officer, county sheriff or municipal peace officer may enforce the law if they find you operating the vehicle in violation of the approved route. Fines for violating ATV laws in Wisconsin can be anywhere from $150 to $2,000.
Also, as a reminder the Pelican River Forest Road Trails are also open, access is from Hwy Q on the north side of the lake via the Yamaha/Romsa trail which crosses Hwy 45 at McGinnis Rd, to the east, to the North from Browns Rd across Hwy 8, or from County Hwy B to the south. Do not use Hwy Q to cross Hwy 45 as the route ends at Hwy 45/ Q intersection.
A map showing the Pelican River Forest Road Trails and the crossings is attached. Please remember that these road trails are on private property so be courteous and respectful when using them.

The Pel-Cho Muddnutz ATV/UTV Club announced today that the new Pelican River Forest trails east of Hwy 45 between County Hwy B in Pelican Lake and US Hwy 8 in Monico, as well as the new Yamaha Trail from Thompson/McGinnis Road to cross Hwy 45 to Hwy Q will formerly open at 11:00 am Friday, September 1st.
Please remember that these trails are crossing private property lands and only exist thru the courtesy of the property owners and for the Yamaha trail a $24,500 grant form Yamaha Outdoor Initiative.
Use of these trails is a privilege, not a right so please respect the speed limits and trail signs and DO NOT GO off trail.
In addition, Hwy 45 in the 35 MPH speed zone is not open for ATV/UTV use until it is formally signed by the County Highway Department. Please DO NOT use Hwy 45 until that time.
Thank you,

The Pel-Cho Muddnutz ATV/UTV Club recently received a grant in the amount of $24,500 to build a quarter mile trail on the north side of Pelican Lake from County Hwy Q to Hwy 45.
Thru this generous grant from Yamaha Outdoor Initiative this trail will provide for a safe crossing across Hwy 45 to the east onto McGinnis/Thompson Road and access to the Pelican River East trail system which will provide a safe, picturesque trail going both north towards Hwy 8/Monico/Crandon as well as south to County B/Pelican Lake/Jennings.
Planned opening of both trail segments is towards the middle to end of August as construction is nearing completion on the Hwy Q/45 Trail and the recently completed negotiations for ATV/UTV access to the Pelican River East Trails will require gate modifications be made to the Trail System to limit motorized access to solely ATV/UTV use.
The club and it's membership are extremely grateful to Yamaha Outdoor Initiative for the generous Grant and to Antigo Yamaha for endorsing our club

I am pleased to report that on August 1st we signed an exclusive use agreement with the Conservation Fund who owns the Pelican River Forest property east and north of Pelican Lake.
The agreement with our club allows for ATV/UTV access to designated trails contained within the property, allowing for access points at Hwy 45 and McGinnis/Thompson Road, Hwy B/Thompson Road in the Town of Schoepke and Hwy 8 and Browns Road in Monico.
This will allow members on the north side of the lake to now take a much shorter route to businesses in Pelican Lake, and allows everyone a more direct access to Monico and the Hwy 8 trail to Crandon.
We are anticipating access to these trails to be formally open by the end of August as we need to make gate modifications to prevent any type of truck/car vehicle access as our agreement is strictly for ATV/UTV access. Please do not try to access these trails until we make a formal announcement that they are open.
On Wednesday, August 9th approximately 40 club members had a chance to join myself, Clint Miller from the Conservation Fund and Charlie Carlin from Gathering Waters in taking a field trip on the trails and enjoy learning more about the property and the intent of the Conservation Fund to continue to work with us in opening additional trail opportunities across the entire 70,000 acres they own.
